Usher: It was written much slower. 'Running Bear' had
just been a hit, and (Ten Little Indians) had that Running Bear feel to it.
That was lost when it was recorded. Reportedly, Capitol Records released
this song as the rollow-up to Surfin' Safari because they thought the surf
fad had run its course. Ten Little Indians reached only #49, making it the
lowest charting Capitol "A"-Side for the Beach Boys until 1968's Bluebirds
Over The Mountain which flopped at a time when the group's wave of popularity
had already crested. |
